Ramadan for B2B Companies in the Gulf: Keeping the Pipeline Moving

Most Ramadan advice is written for consumer brands. This is a before, during and after plan for B2B companies in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar: shorter hours, delayed decisions, and quotations that need restarting after Eid.

Ramadan for B2B Companies in the Gulf: Keeping the Pipeline Moving — RX Insights
Key takeaways
  • Ramadan 2027 is expected to start around 8 February, subject to moon sighting, so January is the quarter's main selling window.
  • Shorter working hours in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar slow approvals; get content, offers and restart messages signed off before the month.
  • During Ramadan, favour useful mobile-friendly content and warm-audience campaigns, and test timing against your own 2026 data.
  • Restart quotations after Eid as a planned sequence: re-confirm validity, reissue, then contact every buyer who said 'after Eid'.

Almost every Ramadan marketing guide written for the Gulf is about consumers: iftar offers, gifting, retail traffic and prime-time television. A company that sells fire systems to contractors, freight services to importers or software to finance teams gets little from that advice. Its buyers still work during Ramadan, but on shorter days, with decisions often held over until after Eid. Its sales team still has quotations open, and many of them expire over the holiday.

This guide applies the usual before, during and after model to B2B selling in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar. It covers what changes in working hours, how to use the weeks before Ramadan, what to publish and run during the month, and how to restart stalled quotations once Eid is over. It does not repeat the annual planning process; if you are still building your 2027 plan, start with our guide to the annual marketing plan for B2B companies in the GCC and come back to this for the Ramadan quarter. For the economic backdrop to that plan, see our note on the GCC economic outlook for 2027.

First, get the dates and the working hours right

Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin on or around 8 February 2027, with Eid al-Fitr expected on 9 or 10 March 2027. These are astronomical projections by the UAE’s Astronomy Centre, reported by Khaleej Times and The National. The 8 February start also matches the Umm al-Qura calendar tables used in Saudi Arabia. Official dates in each country are confirmed only after moon sighting, so either date can move by a day. Build your plan with a one-day buffer on both ends rather than a fixed launch date.

Working hours are what really change a B2B pipeline. They are set by each country and, in some cases, re-announced every year:

CountryPrivate sector during RamadanSource and status
Saudi ArabiaActual working hours for Muslim workers reduced so they do not exceed 6 hours a day or 36 hours a weekLabour Law, Article 98, as explained by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development
UAENormal daily hours reduced by two hours; companies may offer flexible or remote work within the reduced hoursMoHRE announcement for Ramadan 2026 (12 February 2026); watch for the 2027 announcement
Qatar36 hours a week, maximum 6 hours a dayLabour Law, Article 73, restated by the Ministry of Labour in earlier years (reported by Qatar Tribune, March 2024); the 2026 announcement was reported by People Matters Middle East (18 February 2026)

The public sector matters too if you sell to government entities or to contractors who depend on them. In Qatar, for example, a 2026 Cabinet circular set government hours at five a day, from 09:00 to 14:00, with up to 30% of staff allowed to work remotely, according to the same report. Other GCC states publish their own arrangements each year. Treat the table as a guide to the pattern, not legal advice: check the current text of the labour law and the current year’s announcement, and ask HR or your legal adviser how it applies to your own team.

For marketing and sales, the practical result is simple: your buyer has fewer working hours, part of the team may be working remotely, and approvals that needed two signatures in January may need two weeks in Ramadan.

Before Ramadan: the weeks that decide the quarter

With an expected 8 February start, the period from early January to the first week of February is the main selling window of the first quarter. Most of the work that protects your Ramadan pipeline happens here.

Push decisions forward, not just leads

  • List every open quotation by value and stage. For each one, ask the account owner a direct question: can this be decided before Ramadan, and if not, who decides after Eid?
  • Give buyers a reason to decide now. This does not have to be a discount. A confirmed delivery slot, stock held before a known supply gap, or installation scheduled before the summer peak are stronger reasons for many B2B buyers.
  • Check validity dates. A quotation issued in late January with 30-day validity runs out in the second half of Ramadan, and one issued in the first week of February runs out around Eid, so many pre-Ramadan quotations expire before the buyer is ready to decide. Decide now whether you will extend validity, re-price, or reissue after the holiday, and tell the buyer in writing.

Get approvals done before the month starts

In many Gulf companies the owner or general manager approves campaigns, prices and partner announcements personally. If that person’s diary also shortens in Ramadan, unapproved content will sit. Before Ramadan, get sign-off on:

  • the Ramadan and Eid greeting designs and copy, in Arabic and English;
  • the month’s content plan, with every post written and designed rather than outlined (our guide to what a monthly social media plan should include sets the standard);
  • any price list, offer or partner announcement you expect to send in Ramadan or immediately after Eid;
  • the post-Eid restart message to open quotations (see below).

Agree the team’s Ramadan schedule

Leave is often taken around Eid. Agree in January who covers which accounts, who answers WhatsApp and email at which hours, and which meetings must be booked before the month starts. A buyer who asks a technical question in Ramadan and waits four days for an answer will remember it when the order is placed.

Hypothetical example: an air-conditioning distributor whose installation season starts in April could use January to confirm contractor orders for the spring, collect approvals for a Ramadan content series on maintenance, and prepare a post-Eid price list. Ramadan then becomes a quiet production month rather than a lost one. (This is an illustration, not a client case.)

During Ramadan: what B2B buyers actually do with their time

Reliable, current, B2B-specific data on Ramadan behaviour in the Gulf is scarce, so be cautious with any precise figure you see. What is documented is the direction of change. In a Marketing Society round table held with The Trade Desk and Campaign Middle East, participants described Ramadan as “not one period but three” and reported that late-night television and connected-TV viewing peak, mobile and tablet use rises after dark, and laptop and desktop use falls during the day. Those are statements by consumer and media companies, not B2B research, but the pattern is consistent with how the working day changes.

Older data points the same way. Google’s 2015 Ramadan in MENA report found that GCC search queries almost doubled during Ramadan 2015 compared with monthly averages, and that mobile accounted for more than 60% of searches. That data is more than ten years old; use it as history, not as a benchmark for 2027.

For a B2B company, the working assumption is: shorter, more focused office hours for decisions and meetings, and more evening and late-night mobile reading. Plan both.

Time of dayWhat the buyer is likely doingWhat to do
Shortened office hoursClearing urgent approvals, short meetings, reviewing submitted documentsBook short, specific meetings; send documents that can be reviewed in ten minutes; avoid long introductory calls
Late afternoon before iftarLeaving work, travelling, family timeDo not call; schedule no campaigns that require a reply now
After iftar to late nightReading on mobile, catching up on messages, social and videoPublish educational content and short video; keep messages light and easy to save for later

Test your own audience rather than relying on this table: compare when your website, LinkedIn page and WhatsApp inquiries were most active during Ramadan 2026 and adjust the publishing schedule to match.

What to publish and run during the month

Content: useful, calm and easy to save

Ramadan is a poor month for aggressive selling and a good one for content that builds trust. For B2B companies, the formats that tend to fit are:

  • Short technical education: a weekly series answering the questions your sales engineers hear most often, written for mobile reading.
  • Project and installation showcases: completed work, with the client’s permission, explained in two or three clear points.
  • Team and values content: genuine community or CSR activity, only if it actually happened; avoid inventing initiatives for the calendar.
  • Greetings: one well-made Ramadan greeting at the start and one Eid greeting, sent to clients personally where relationships justify it, not only posted.

Keep the tone respectful and the claims modest. Ask a native Arabic speaker on your team to review every Arabic post for wording that suits the month. This is where a planned, pre-approved calendar from your social media and content team pays off: the month runs without last-minute requests to an owner who has less time.

Paid media: keep the warm audiences, review the cold ones

There is no rule that B2B advertising must stop in Ramadan. The question is what each campaign is for. A reasonable starting point is to keep brand search and retargeting active, so buyers who are researching at night can still find you, and to review cold lead-generation campaigns that rely on an immediate call-back. If your sales team works shorter hours, a lead that arrives at midnight and gets a reply two days later is wasted spend. Look at your own Ramadan 2026 cost per qualified lead before deciding, and change bids and schedules rather than switching everything off.

Sales: fewer meetings, better follow-up

  • Use the month to complete technical submittals, pre-qualification files and vendor registrations that buyers will need after Eid.
  • Send short, written updates instead of chasing calls: what is ready, what you need from the buyer, and when you will follow up.
  • Keep a log of every buyer who says “after Eid”, with a name and a date. That list is your restart plan.

After Eid: restarting quotations

The risk after Eid is not that buyers forget you. It is that every supplier contacts them on the same morning, and that quotations from before Ramadan are now out of date. Treat the restart as a planned sequence.

WhenAction
Eid holidayOne Eid greeting per key contact; no sales messages
First working days backRe-confirm validity of open quotations; reissue or re-price expired ones internally before contacting the buyer
First full week backSend each “after Eid” buyer a short message with the updated quotation, one clear next step and a proposed meeting time
Weeks two and threeFollow up on unanswered quotations; run a post-Eid campaign to warm audiences; publish the price list or offer approved in January
End of month after EidReview: how many pre-Ramadan quotations closed, moved, or were lost, and why

In the UAE, public- and private-sector employees usually get the first three days of Shawwal as paid holidays. The National notes that if Ramadan lasts 30 days, the 30th of Ramadan is also declared a public holiday, which together with the weekend could mean a six-day break around Eid al-Fitr 2027. Check the official announcement in each market before you schedule the restart, because a message sent on what turns out to be a holiday reads as careless.

The restart message itself should be specific. Name the project, attach the updated document, state what changed (price, validity, delivery), and propose one next step. Our guide to WhatsApp sales scripts for B2B quotations covers the wording in more detail.

Fill in the sales row first. List every quotation that will still be open on 1 January with its validity date, and mark the ones that expire between the expected start of Ramadan and the first full week after Eid. Those are the decisions to push forward in January, and the documents to reissue before the restart.

Frequently asked questions

When does Ramadan 2027 start?

It is expected to begin on or around 8 February 2027, with Eid al-Fitr on 9 or 10 March 2027, based on astronomical projections. Official dates are confirmed in each country after moon sighting, so plan with a one-day buffer.

Should B2B companies stop advertising during Ramadan?

Not necessarily. Many keep brand search and retargeting running and review cold lead-generation campaigns that depend on a fast call-back, because shorter working hours slow responses. Base the decision on your own results from the previous Ramadan.

What are private-sector working hours in Ramadan?

In Saudi Arabia, the Labour Law limits Muslim workers to 6 hours a day or 36 a week. In the UAE, MoHRE reduced private-sector hours by two hours a day for Ramadan 2026. In Qatar, the Labour Law sets a Ramadan maximum of 36 hours a week and 6 a day, and the 2026 announcement was reported on the same basis. Rules can change, so check each year's official announcement and the current law.
